Heavy rains drench Oahu on Election Day

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – It was a wet start to Election Day as heavy rains drench the island.
A flood advisory was in effect for Oahu until 11 a.m.
Rain caused flooding on the H-1 Freeway in town. The right westbound lane near the Vineyard offramp was blocked off due to water on the road.
The state Department of Transportation is urging travelers to check their flight status before leaving the airport.
They said that lightning near the airports may result in flight delays.
Live cameras throughout the island showed dark and cloudy skies with little to no visibility.
Despite the rain, voters are still lining up at voter service centers to cast their ballot.
The storm is causing slick roadways so be sure to drive carefully and remain vigilant. If you’re going out to vote in-person, don’t forget to wear a rain jacket and bring an umbrella.
